Severe adhesions and advanced laparoscopic surgery
نویسنده
چکیده
A 43 year old, status post hysterectomy, was referred for the management of ovarian retention syndrome. Extensive adhesiolysis was performed and ovaries removed. Bladder cystoscopy with hydrodistension test revealed symptoms of early interstitial cystitis. Estimated blood loss was 800 and operative time 5 hours 23 minutes. The case demonstrates the potential of minimal invasive surgery in a case of severe adhesions that looked initially impossible. 1 Heart of Georgia Women’s Center, Warner Robins, GA 2 Kingsbrook Jewish Medical Center, Brooklyn, NY 11203

Pelvic adhesions often develop following surgery and they can compromise the success of treatment. Ovarian suspension (elevating both o...

BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES Laparoscopic ventral incisional hernia repair involves intraabdominal placement of a synthetic mesh, and the possibility of formation of severe visceral adhesions to the prosthesis is a principal concern. Little clinical information based on reoperative findings is available about adhesions to biomaterials placed intraabdominally. We conducted a multi-institutional stu...
